A SINGLE father is struggling to come to terms with the damage a truck caused to his home in KwaMthetwa near Mtubatuba on Monday afternoon.
At around 1pm a dump truck driver lost control of his vehicle, ploughing straight into the small home the man shared with his mother and two children.
Co-workers told the Zululand Observer the man was ‘extremely relieved’ that his children, aged eight and 14, were still at school at the time.
The driver reportedly sustained several injuries and was taken to a local clinic for treatment.
The small home meanwhile, was completely destroyed.
Brian Woodhouse of Woodie’s Woodwork in Richards Bay where the man works, said the man had recently bought appliances and furniture for his home.
The father did not wish to have his name published.
