Man gets 15 years for attacking estate agent

Myburgh survived an attack while showing Maphutane a house on 11 June last year.

THE man found guilty of assaulting eShowe estate agent Jean Myburgh (72), has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

Robert Kabelo Maphutane (25) was sentenced in the eShowe Regional Court last Tuesday after being found guilty of attempted murder by Magistrate Morné Swanepoel on 26 April.

Myburgh survived an attack while showing Maphutane a house on 11 June last year.

She was strangled before being locked inside the house.

Maphutane fled with the keys of the house as well as her vehicle, handbag and cell phone.

Myburgh lost consciousness and woke up lying on the bathroom floor the next day.

She attracted the attention of a passerby who alerted a security company and the police.

Maphutane went on the run but was eventually arrested by eShowe Detectives on 16 July.
