ESIKHALENI police made a breakthrough when they arrested a most wanted suspect for a string of cases in the area including murders, attempted murder, pointing of firearm and robberies.
The suspect (28) together with his co-accused (23) appeared at eSikhaleni Magistrate’s Court on 3 May, charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
On 30 April eSikhaleni police received information about the whereabouts of a wanted suspect in the area.
They immediately conducted an operation and followed up on information, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect was with his friend. He was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and ammunition.
He was further linked to two murder cases reported in the area, two business robberies, and an attempted murder case which was reported in the Empangeni area.
Further investigations will be conducted by the SAPS to establish if the suspects are wanted for other murder crimes and armed robberies in the area and the recovered firearm will be sent for ballistic tests to ascertain if it was used in any other crime in the country.
