Maskandi duo goes international

The duo's previous trip to Thailand saw them perform at the premier social event Take a Walk on the Wild Side - South African Ball.

AS part of South African freedom month celebrations, local maskandi artists David ‘Qadasi’ Jenkins and Maqhinga Radebe are in Asia this week for a string of performances in Vietnam, Thailand and India.

These will be private banquets hosted by the South African Embassies in Hanoi and Bangkok and the South African consulate in Mumbai.

The duo will then be taking their maskandi folk fusion to the South African Food Festival hosted by the magnificent Plaza Athenee Hotel in Bangkok on 29 and 30 April.

‘We are overjoyed to be back in Asia and feel honoured to be representing South African diversity and traditional music,’ said David.

The duo’s previous trip to Thailand saw them perform at the premier social event Take a Walk on the Wild Side – South African Ball.

They will also be promoting their new collaborative acoustic album, Lashis’ Ilanga, which is being released in SA on their return.
