RELEASED on bail in February, a woman accused of selling stolen anti-retroviral medication again appeared in court on Monday.
Nombuso Sithole (37) was granted bail of R7 000 after a formal application heard by the Ngwelezane Magistrate’s Court.
Sithole was arrested on 10 February during a ‘buy and bust’ sting operation conducted by police.
She was found in possession of 328 bottles of ARV medication with an estimated street value of R328 000.
During the bail application, Judge Howard Chirwa heard testimony from the investigating officer, Major Raj Chetty of the Richards Bay SAPS, who told the court he suspected a ‘drug cartel’ was at work.
The ARVs were allegedly taken from a clinic near Gingindlovu, however, the exact source has not yet been confirmed.
The case has been postponed until 30 June to allow police to conclude investigations.
