City reservoirs run dry

City Manager: Communications Mdu Ncalane said technicians were hard at work pumping to resuscitate reservoir levels.

HAVING experienced extremely low reservoir levels on yesterday (Tuesday), the City of uMhlathuze was forced to shut down water to all areas.

An urgent SMS sent after 10pm stated water supply would be cut throughout the city until 4am.

However, the Richards Bay CBD and a number of suburbs were still without water at 9am on Wednesday.

Confirming the situation, City Manager: Communications Mdu Ncalane said technicians were hard at work pumping to resuscitate reservoir levels.

In a brief statement as he awaited further feedback from engineers, Ncalane reported at around 11am on today (Wednesday) that some areas were still without water.

‘Currently, levels are improving and supply will be opened as soon as the reservoirs reach at least 30% capacity,’ said Ncalane.
