Enterprise development boosts entrepreneurs

Transnet Port Terminal supports 33 SMMEs with business support

IN A partnership aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and small businesses development, Transnet Port Terminal (TPT) has rolled out its Enterprise and Supply Development initiative in Zululand.

Last week, 33 small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) were sponsored membership to the Zululand Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZCCI).

Transnet has partnered with ZCCI to offer entrepreneurial support to the selected SMMEs who will have access to all ZCCI’s business support services and can tap into the wide networks developed by the chamber.

Welcoming the initiative, ZCCI President Judith Nzimande commended TPT for their investment into local businesses and encouraged other corporates to also create platforms to promote business development.

‘These enterprises must use this opportunity to grow their businesses and explore ways to create more jobs.

‘Regardless of the complex situations within business, entrepreneurs must not give up, must work harder and find innovative opportunities to enhance their ventures.

‘These businesses will have access to ZCCI’s membership benefits, which include training, mentorship, networking sessions, the SMME forum and help desk, networking opportunities with large business, advertising platforms, as well as business development and support.

‘This year marks our 90th birthday celebration and we want to continue to partner with and support local businesses,’ said Nzimande.

TPT representative Thembi Phahla said the programme was first rolled out in Durban and after witnessing its success, they decided to introduce it to Zululand.
