Disaster teams deployed in storm-ravaged KZN

While the region has been severely affected by the ongoing drought, storms destroyed several homes resulting in the death of one child.

DISASTER management teams have been dispatched to Zululand towns that were hard hit by storms on Wednesday.

According to KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) spokesman Lennox Mabaso, the affected municipalities include Ulundi, Pongola and Vryheid.

While the region has been severely affected by the ongoing drought, storms destroyed several homes resulting in the death of one child.

‘KZN COGTA is working closely with other government departments, including Social Development and Human Settlement and Education to assess damage to private property and public infrastructure and to dispatch help to the affected families and communities,’ said Mabaso.
