A MURDER docket has been opened at Mtubatuba Police Station following the gruesome discovery of a partially decomposed body.
According to Captain Hlabisa, Mtubatuba SAPS Communications Officer, municipal councillor for the Shikshela area, Luka Majuba Mkhwanazi, informed police of the discovery. Two men cycling through the plantation along the railway line smelt a terrible odour emanating from the plantation.
They looked in the bushes between the railway line and the plantation and saw a badly decomposed body lying face down.
Police estimate the person, a male, to have been about 45 years old, but have been unable to identify him. He was wearing a blue shirt and khaki shorts.
Both hands had been bound with rope before he was thrown into the bushes.
Police are investigating a case of murder and have urged anyone with any information to contact the Mtubatuba SAPS.
