A MAN has finally been brought to justice after his crimes against two teenage girls went unpunished for almost three years.
The Empangeni Regional Court on Monday convicted and sentenced Lihle Khoza (32) to 22 years imprisonment for sexual assault, attempted rape and armed robbery.
In May 2013 the two girls, aged 14 and 16 at the time, were on their way home in the Mkhoma Reserve, eNseleni, when they were approached by Khoza, who forced them into the bushes at gunpoint.
The accused sexually assaulted them, attempted to rape them and robbed one victim of her cellphone before fleeing.
The victims reported the matter to the Empangeni police and a case was opened.
More than a year later, one of the victims spotted Khoza in the Richards Bay CBD and immediately informed the investigating officer, who swiftly followed and apprehended him.
Khoza made numerous court appearances until finally being sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for sexual assault and 10 years for robbery.
