UPDATE: Taxi driver shooter injured himself

A police officer who attended to the crime scene said when interviewed, the man said he thinks he injured himself during the incident as he did not remember the taxi driver or any of his passengers drawing a firearm.

ACCORDING to police reports, the man who shot and killed a taxi driver in a shoot-out on the N2 near Eteza on Wednesday, has not yet been arrested or appeared in court as he is in hospital recovering from injuries believed to be caused by himself..

A police officer who attended to the crime scene said when interviewed, the man said he thinks he injured himself during the incident as he did not remember the taxi driver or any of his passengers drawing a firearm.

He will appear in court once he has recovered sufficiently to be discharged.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. Striking taxi drivers reportedly got wind of an individual using his private vehicle as a taxi and sought to put a stop to it.

Driving on the N2, a taxi driver advanced towards the man who drew a firearm, shooting the taxi driver. He died on scene and two passengers were taken to hospital with injuries.
