Yachties sail the seas at speed
The Royal Natal Natal Yacht Club flyer ‘Ray of Light’ sped from the island to Richards Bay in a corrected time of 22hrs.27.53 to claim fleet line and monohull handicap honours.
WITH a howling northeaster at their backs, it was no surprise when the record was shattered in the 26th annual Inhaca Island Yacht Race over the weekend.
The Royal Natal Natal Yacht Club flyer ‘Ray of Light’ sped from the island to Richards Bay in a corrected time of 22hrs.27.53 to claim fleet line and monohull handicap honours.
First Zululand Yacht Club monohull to cross the line was ‘Zeus’ in 1.1.59.59 while ‘Nomad’ took ZYC line honours in the multihull category.
Point Yacht Club, with the best three finishers, took the team prize while Kirsten Schreuder and his crew on ‘Maranatha’ had the dubious honour of Yacht Longest at Sea.
