
A RICHARDS BAY man sustained a gunshot wound during a hijacking incident last Saturday when he was accosted by four unknown men.
According to police reports, the motorist was travelling along Anglers Rod street towards Meerensee when he was attacked.
The suspects took him to an ATM to withdrawn cash from his account and then forced him into the boot of his vehicle.
Police spokesperson, Captain Debbie Ferreira, said the victim eventually managed to escape from the boot and confronted the suspects. He was shot during the scuffle.
‘Police have opened a case of attempted murder and anyone who might have witnessed the incident can contact Cst RM Ngidi on 035 9012424,’ she said.
In a separate incident a vehicle was stolen from an Arboretum park on Tuesday where a group of youngsters were relaxing and listening to music.
They were approached by unknown men who held them up and fled in the vehicle.
Police later recovered the vehicle in KwaMbonambi.
