Major boost towards KZN drought relief

Funds have been allocated to boost the KZN drought situation

R200-MILLION has been allocated for various drought relief programmes in the province.

This was announced by KZN MEC for Finance, Belinda Scott, last week.

Scott said the R200-million is allocated for the current financial year, R150 million would go to the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

With the drought affecting the province and most of Zululand, funds will be utilised for the installation of 100 boreholes, and mobile plats to support critical areas.

Funds will also be used to buy water tankers to support firefighters in KZN.
