Jet-fuelled Van Niekerk makes sprinting history

SOUTH African sprinter Wayde van Niekerk became the first runner ever to break 10 seconds for the 100 metre sprint, 20 seconds for the 200 metre and 44 seconds for the 400 metre event at the Free State Championships in Bloemfontein.
Van Niekerk ran the 100m in 9.98 seconds, the 200m in 19.94 seconds and the 400m in 43.48 seconds.
This is great news for Van Niekerk, peaking just at the right time leading up to the Olympic Games later this year.
