JOHN Travis, a Grade 10 pupil at Empangeni High School, was recently named Top Junior Angler of the Year at the Richards Bay bass angling club prize-giving.
He was also the Top Angler of the Year 2012/13 season (even out-fishing his dad) and can really do no wrong when he has a rod in his hands.
At this year’s inter-provincial tournament John will have the honour of fishing along senior anglers owing to his outstanding placements in the club fixtures.
At the event, the best bass anglers from their respective provinces will be battling it out for the best catches over a three-day competition.
John is also a member of the KZN bass angling team.
