Pupils learn about the environment
Madlankala Primary School pupils were part of the Environment Awareness last week
ILLEGAL dumping, recycling and waste management were the main issues tackled during an environmental awareness day at Mandlakala Primary School outside eSikhaleni last week.
The campaign was spearheaded by Youth Job in Waste in conjunction with the City of uMhlathuze.
The purpose was to educate pupils about the importance of recycling and promote environmental awareness in schools.
‘We promote the basic principles of reuse, recycle and reuse. Educating young children means they will implement them, even at home, and educate their parents, siblings and the community at large,’ said Mzamo Mnguni of Youth Job in Waste.
Following a presentation by Antoinette Marais of Mpact, pupils collected recyclable materials around the school yard.
