Local foundation invites funding proposals
Grants on the table for Zululand's deserving community-based organisations
ORGANISATIONS that are hard-pressed for money to continue valuable community work can now apply for grant funding from the uThungulu Community Foundation (UCF).
The UCF is inviting funding proposals from non-governmental and community-based organisations located within the uThungulu and uMkhanyakude District Municipalities.
‘In awarding these grants to qualifying and deserving organisations, the foundation will look at project constitution, a copy of the registration certificate or NPO certificate, a funding proposal, project profile, quotations for required tools, the sustainability of the organisation as well as if the organisation has reliable management, past achievements and records of its operations,’ said UCF CEO Chris Mkhize.
‘The types of community projects we may financially support includes promotion of human rights, social justice, life skills programmes, entrepreneurship, citizen participation, early childhood education, arts and crafts and sport and recreation.’
However, Mkhize emphasised the UCF will not fund salaries, buildings, labour, events, special functions, office rentals, school fees, petty cash, travel allowance and individuals or project ideas.
The closing date is 31 March.
‘Please note if you do not hear from us by 31 May, accept that your application was unsuccessful,’ Mkhize said.
