RH CONSTRUCTION uThungulu retained their unbeaten home run on Sunday, making it four out of four wins when beating African Warriors by seven wickets in a Premier League match at Addison Park.
The local side, which is currently sharing top spot on the Premier League log, has not lost a game this year.
But the squad will be tested as they go on the road and play five away fixtures before taking on Delta at Addison Park on Sunday, 20 March.
This Sunday is the ‘big one’ for the lads, as they take on joint top-placed Crusaders at Crusaders.
Match report
At the weekend, African Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first on a dry, hard pitch.
Thanks to D Sincuba (69) and V Xulu (39), the visitors reached 182/9 in their 50 overs.
Otto Rode 2/30 in 10 and speedster Marc Shorkend 2/17 in four, were the pick of the home side’s bowlers.
Needing 3.66 runs per over for victory was never going to be challenging for the home side considering their current form.
With Eugene Zwart making 77 off 110 balls, which included 9 fours and one 6, and Ruan van Rensburg knocking 43 off 61, the home side’s chase looked good for a bonus point victory.
With Trevor Kietzmann also wading in with a quick-fire 37 off 19, which included five fours and one maximum, the home team cruised over the line in the 41st over, missing the bonus point by only one over.
M Xulu 2/44 in 7 was the standout bowler for the visiting side.
The team’s next few fixtures are – versus Crusaders at Crusaders this Sunday, Chatsworth at Tills on Sunday, 14 February, Topham at DHS Old Boys on 21 February and Chatsworth United at Chatsworth on 6 March.
